CHILDREN: children under the age of 4 are allowed on the tour for free and do not need any reservation. Children from 4 years up to the age of 18 participate in the tour paying a reduced rate. (Identity document required).
TOUR ITINERARY
This private tour lasts approximately 3 hours and can be customized to suit your interests and preferences.
Your experience begins at Castel Sant’Angelo, where your guide will first introduce the monument from the outside, explaining its distinctive architecture and the strategic importance of its location on the banks of the River Tiber. The tour then continues inside the castle, where you will discover the many different roles Castel Sant’Angelo has played throughout the centuries, from Emperor Hadrian’s mausoleum to papal fortress and residence.
Your guide will lead you through its fascinating halls, secret passageways and historic rooms, culminating on the spectacular terraces, which offer breathtaking panoramic views over Rome, the River Tiber and St. Peter’s Basilica.
After visiting the castle, you will walk along Via della Conciliazione to St. Peter’s Square, a pleasant stroll of approximately 20 minutes.
The tour concludes in this magnificent square, where your guide will explain the history of St. Peter’s Basilica, originally commissioned by Emperor Constantine and later rebuilt during the Renaissance. You will also discover the extraordinary architecture of Vatican City, including Michelangelo’s iconic dome and Bernini’s magnificent colonnade, one of the greatest masterpieces of Baroque architecture.
Please note: This tour does not include admission to St. Peter’s Basilica. However, after the guided tour you are welcome to visit the basilica independently by joining the public admission line or by booking a timed-entry ticket in advance.
